One Practical Thing: Federal Business
One of the details in the many, many details to remember about the last Trump administration is that government efficiency decreased greatly. Last time, that was the byproduct of an inexperienced and unprepared team. This time, such inefficiencies and delays will be by design with multiple people associated with the Trump administration declaring up front that their approach to government is slash and burn.
No matter how efficiency inclined you may be, the reality is that every single person's life has multiple components that are connected to government processes at the federal level.
If you have any business that involved administration at the federal level at some point (or potential federal interference in the future) you should prioritize that business as soon as possible.
Things to consider:
- Acquiring or renewing your passport and/or passport cards
- Business with any federal departments like the Small Business Administration
- Name changes
- Official documents like social security cards
- Representative Payee appointments if you are a caregiver for someone receiving SSI or SSDI
- and so on
Take a moment to think through your current and near-term needs and get the ball rolling on any matters of business you have that will involve any federal offices.
One Practical Thing is a series about practical, tactical actions for personal wellbeing, building community, contributing to the collective good and protecting vulnerable people, places and things.
